SYNOPSIS: Based on the novel by Agatha Christie, a posh 1937 tour of the holy land turns murderous when a malicious, wealthy dowager (Piper Laurie) is mysteriously poisoned. Each of her fellow tourists had the means and the motive to kill her and any of them would have enjoyed plunging the lethal hypodermic syringe into Mrs. Boynton's fleshy arm. It's up to nimble-witted Belgian detective Poirot (Peter Ustinov) to discover whodunit. The all-star cast includes Lauren Bacall, John Gielgud, Carrie Fisher, Hayley Mills, David Soul and Jenny Seagrove.

German Plot:
Das Oberhaupt der Boynton-Sippe ist mit Emily (Piper Laurie) stark matriarchalisch geprägt und sie bemüht sich, in der Familie alles und jeden zu kontrollieren. Dazu gehört auch die Abhängikeit aller von ihr, ein Zustand, der durch ein zweites Testament ihres verstorbenen Gatten brüchig geworden ist. Also bemüht sie sich per Erpressung darum, den letzten Willen verschwinden zu lassen. Eine Familienreise nach Jerusalem führt die Sippe in die Nähe von Hercule Poirot (Peter Ustinov), der mitansehen muß, wie die Kinder Emilys, allesamt erwachsen, von der Angelegenheit erfahren. Und plötzlich wird Emily vergiftet aufgefunden und praktisch jeder hat ein Motiv...
