COLLECTION INFO:
In ZIP format for maximum operating system compatibility, with comprehensive id3 tags (no embedded album art, but AlbumArt images provided @ 350x350 & 700x700).
All albums MP3 @ 320kbps (except **192kbps). Where tracks/albums are mono, they have been encoded as such @ 160kbps (the same quality as stereo 320kbps).
All albums come with the original CD art and/or designs in keeping with the BBC CD range.
All complete scores come with introductory excerpts (some with more) and some with additional sound effects and related music suites where available on CD or DVD gallery tracks.
All albums sourced from DVD isolated scores have had subtle stereo ambience applied (except 'The Sea Devils' which I have left in mono, to distinguish it even more from the commercial CD release).
For commercial CD releases where 2 or 3 complete scores were included, I have presented them as individual albums:
- Doctor Who - Devil's Planets: The Daleks, The Daleks' Master Plan & The Mutants (I have gone to the effort of titling the tracks for 'The Mutants' - not done for the commercial CD release)
- Doctor Who - Terror of the Zygons: Terror of the Zygons & The Seeds of Doom
- Doctor Who at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop - Volume 4: Meglos & Full Circle
'Doctor Who and the Silurians' includes Carey Blyton's music suites from 'The Silurians', 'Death to the Daleks' and 'Revenge of the Cybermen' from the CD 'Doctor Who meets Sherlock Holmes'.
For 'The Five Doctors' and 'The curse of Fenric' 2 substantially different versions of the scores exist. 1xCD and 2xCD art has been provided for both stories.
- The Five Doctors: the original and special edition versions of 'The Five Doctors' from the isolated scores on the DVDs
- The Curse of Fenric: The DVD isolated score of the televised version, and the 1996 CD release based on the extended VHS Video release
As well as the original scans, high quality remastered cover art with printable booklets have been provided for:
- Doctor Who at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop - Volume 1: The Early Years (1963-1969)
- Doctor Who at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop - Volume 2: New Beginnings (1970-1980)
High quality remastered cover art (in style of the original vinyl releases) are provided for 'Doctor Who - The Music I & II' - along with the commercial Silva Screen CD art, where the albums were retitled with additional tracks as: 'Music from Earthshock' and 'Music from The Five Doctors'
For 'The Sea Devils' I have included both the CD version ('Doctor Who at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop - Volume 2: New Beginnings) and the DVD isolated score version - due to a lot of sequences not being included on the CD release and also some tracks not used on TV (the cliffhanger and proceeding recap on Episode 1 a prime example of both). This version has 18 minutes more material than the CD. Some tracks are similar to others, but with different tempo, EQ, volume, mixed into other tracks, etc.
For 'The Leisure Hive' I have included both the commercial CD version ('Doctor Who at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop - Volume 3: The Leisure Hive) and the DVD isolated score version - due to sound effects being added over a track on the CD version, and to include more sound effects from other sources and the new improved 2006 version of the stereo remix of the Delia Derbyshire theme sourced from 'An Unearthly Child' DVD (Mark Ayres remastered this track for the DVD release due to some sound elements sequenced incorrectly on the 2002 CD version).
For 'Doctor Who at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop - Volume 4: Meglos & Full Circle' I have only included CD art scans, because the tracks on this album are the same as those included in the individual posts for those stories, and the album can be compiled from those should you so wish.
'Series 3 [REMIXED]' includes: the 'Doctor Who' theme from 'Voyage of the Damned'; 'Fast Ood Rockers - Song for Kylie'; remixed version of 'All the Strange, Strange Creatures [The Trailer Music]' without the same intro used on 'Westminster Bridge' on the 'Series 1 & 2' - this track was made available to download from The Mill's website - background music to a trailer showcasing their CGI work on 'Doctor Who'; and remixed version of 'Abide with Me' so it ends 'naturally' on the last verse rather than on a fade out.
'Series 4' includes 2 remixed tracks: Extended version of 'Songs of Captivity and Freedom' mixing said track with 'Song for Freedom'; and 'The Doctor's Theme - Series 4 (Pappenheim Remix)' - a mix of 'The Doctor's Theme', 'The Doctor's Theme - Series 4' and 'Turn Left'. Also includes alternative CD art more in the style of the other 2 albums.
Thanks to all those who have helped me put this collection together.
Enjoy! (And please help seed if you can.)
