Plot Outline:
The sleazy book dealer Corso (Depp) is hired by the obscure obsessive Balkan to find the only other two copies of his rare book in existence. The book is called 'The Nine Gates of the Kingdom of Shadows', and Balkan wants to authenticate his copy of this 17th century occult work, said to have been written by the devil. And thus begins an almost 'Angel heart'ish (remember that one with Rourke and De Niro) escapade, filled with physical and supernatural catalysts and obstacles.
Berättelse:
Dean Corso (Johnny Depp) är expert på att hitta gamla och sällsynta böcker som han köper billigt och säljer dyrt till rika samlare. Ett yrke som kräver fingertoppskänsla och kalla nerver. Men frågan är om det räcker när Corso får sitt livs ovanligaste uppdrag. Den förmögne och excentriske Boris Balkan, hängiven samlare av litteratur om djävulen, vill att Corso ska kontrollera om Balkans exemplar av boken "The Nine Gates of the Kingdom of Shadows" är äkta. Boken som sägs vara skriven av djävulen själv finns bara i tre exemplar, och Balkan skickar Corso till Europa för att finna de två sista exemplaren. Han dras in i en djävulsk labyrint som inte bara kommer att förändra hela hans världsbild. Den kommer också att lämna en rad döda människor i Corsos spår. Och i hälarna har han den förmögna Liana Telfer, vars make en gång köpte boken. Nu vill hon ha den tillbaka. Till varje pris...
