Note:
During the BAD sessions, many more songs were recorded but they didn't leaked anywhere yet. Here is the list of outtakes who aren't available yet:
*"Turning Me Off" (1987) (Michael Jackson)
*"Someone Put Your Hand Out" [Early Version] (1987) (Michael Jackson)
*"Al Capone" (1985) (Michael Jackson) [Early Version of Smooth Criminal]
*"Hot Fever" (1985) (Michael Jackson) [Demo of The Way You Make Me Feel]
*"Pyramid Girl" (1986) (Michael Jackson) [Demo of Liberian Girl]
*"Tomboy" (1985) (Michael Jackson)
*"Get In To The Groove"(1987) (Michael Jackson) [Demo of Black or WHite]
*"What You Do To Me" (1985) (Michael Jackson)
*"Crack Kills" (1986) (Michael Jackson) featuring Run DMC. Due to tensions between both sides the song finally did not make the album. Early unfinished lyrics of this song have been sold by auction twice: first in November 2005 and once again online via Ebay in 2006
Album Informations
Collaborations:
*"Just Good Friend" duet with Stevie Wonder
*"I Just Can't Stop Loving You" duet with Siedah Garett
*"Dirty Diana" guitar by Steve Stevens
Songs informations:
*"The Way You Make Me Feel" [Album Version #2] replaced the album version on all later pressings of the Bad album. It is the full-length version of the single remix sans the finger snap after the second verse. It features richer vocalizations and background vocals however.
*"Smooth Criminal" [Album Version #2] replaced the album version on all later pressings of the Bad album. It omits the dramatic breathing within the intro.
*"Bad" [7" Single Edit] replaced the album version on all later pressings of the Bad album. Horns are removed throughout the earlier choruses.
*"I Just Can't Stop Loving You" [7" Single Edit] replaced the original version on the later releases of Bad. Originally, the album version featured a spoken intro by Jackson backed with a longer version of the opening music. This intro was mixed out on future releases of the album.
*"Dirty Diana" [7" SIngle Edit] replaced the original version on later Bad releases.
*"Scared Of The Moon" was written by Michael circa 1985, as a contender for what became his Bad album, and cited in his court disposition in November 1993.
*"Fly Away" was given to Michael's sister Rebbie Jackson. Her cover Version includes Michael Jackson's vocals (with additional ones). It can be found on her album "Yours Faithfully" (1998).
*"Groove Of Midnight" was recorded for BAD but Michael decided to give the song to Siedah Garett. Her cover version use the exact same backing track that was recorded for Bad (without Michael's vocals) and why I choose to include it here is because it's the closer we can get to the original outtake. However, we can heard MJ singing it a bit on the leaked snippet from a recording session for the album.
*"Je ne veux pas la fin de nous" lyrics were written by Christine "Coconut" Decroix. It was never officially released because French-speaking people were having difficulties to understand what they were singing, due to a not-that-good accent.
*"Todo Mi Amor Eres Tú" lyrics were written by Rubén Blades. It was release as a single in some Spanish-speaking country.
*"Another Part Of Me" and "We Are Here To Change The World" were in fact recorded before the BAD sessions, in 1986. They were used as the soundtrack of a 3D Disney movie CAPTAIN EO shown at several Disneylands, premiered at the Epcot Centre in Orlando, Florida on September 12, 1986. Its final screening was at Disneyland Paris on 16th August 1998. The two tracks were produced at the same studio and with the same team that would produced the BAD album months later. They were both considered for inclusion on the album, but only "Another Part of Me" survive.
*"Streetwalker" replaced by Another Part Of Me. From a part of its rhythmic melody Michael supposedly developed the Early Version of Dangerous (1989) later, however, the similarities between the two songs are minimal. It remained unreleased until it was added on the expanded, special edition reissue of Bad, in October 2001. On the CD, Quincy Jones confirmed Michael wanted to include Streetwalker on the original release of Bad, while he favoured Another Part Of Me - which was finally chosen.
*"Who's Bad" working title (as lyrics didn't exist) was "Pee". Part of it can be heard as the so-called "False Fade" of the Extended Dance Mix (8:23) of Bad. Here, you have the real demo.
*"Cheater" was written by Michael with Greg Phillinganes, recorded in 1987 and originally slated to appear on Michael's album, Bad - failed to make the final track listing, despite being one of Michael's favourites at the time.
Bootleg Information
Okay, so this is it. Every single outtakes I could find on the internet is there. And every tracks has a STUNNING sound quality. I'm absolutly sure that the tracks you'll find there were recorded during the 'Bad' sessions, and every single one of them were double-checked to be sure if they were genuine, and if many versions of it exists that it was the good one.
Some sources were impossible to find in Lossless quality. So, I decided to let them appears LOSSY, without even touching the file, no re-encoding, nothing. If someone could upgrade this collection by adding LOSSLESS files instead of the LOSSY one, you'll make my day (if you don't forget the credit).
All the information came from the "Bad - Special Edition" (2001) booklet for the official part. The information and the definitive list of outtakes which this compilation is based on came from the book "Michael Jackson: For the Record" (ISBN-13: 978-0755202676). This book is incredible: it's a listing of every Michael Jackson demos and outtakes that exists, even those who have never been leaked yet. This was really helpful, especially because it was written were I could find those tracks.
Enjoy the sound, AND PLEASE SHARE.
DON'T CONVERT TO MP3, GODDAM IT!
