Here is a collection of undoubtedly the top 60 rap songs of all time. This is coming from a true hip-hop head. I have seen the top 100 list on this site. It's BULLSHIT. The top 250 list is decent, and includes much quality rap, but it misses some essentials and includes some garbage.

This list is if you want only the absolute cream of the crop in hip hop history, ranging from Old School (Grandmaster Flash/Kurtis Blow/Sugarhill Gang) to Golden Age (Public Enemy/Eric B. & Rakim) to gangsta (Boogie Down Productions/Ice-T/N.W.A/Ice Cube/Compton's Most Wanted/Coolio/2Pac/Xzibit/Bone Thugs-n-Harmony) to G-Funk (Dr. Dre/Snoop Doggy Dogg/Warren G) to East Coast Hardcore (Jay-Z/Notorious B.I.G./Wu-Tang Clan/Raekwon/DMX/Big Daddy Kane/Nas/Mobb Deep) to Alternative Rap (Common/A Tribe Called Quest/Fugees), with some other styles thrown in there (Southern Rap-Outkast, Rap Rock-Run-D.M.C./Beastie Boys, Pop Rap-LL Cool J, Horrorcore-Jedi Mind Tricks)
