Economic Meltdown & Spiricom Fraud

Due to technical difficulties caused by a tropical storm in the Philippines, Art Bell, who was filling in for George
Noory, was live for only the first half of Friday's program.
In the first hour, financial advisor Joe Meyer provided an update on the current (and future) economic meltdown. Meyer
believes the rally in the stock market will end soon. The Dow Jones Industrial Average, which closed at 9665 on Friday,
will go back down to 6470, he said. If that number gets violated, Meyer warned, the next stop could be 4123 and
possibly even 2450 as a final panic bottom.
He predicted a second wave of home mortgage defaults when rates reset in 2010 and 2011. Meyer said the next bubble to
burst will be commercial real estate, which he anticipates will crash harder than the residential market. A projected
125,000 retail stores are expected to close in 2009 alone, he added, leading to even more bank defaults and further job
losses.
Meyer pointed out that 10 states have unemployment rates above 10%, but thinks the true number is much higher, around
16-17%. He suggested setting up programs to put people to work in the public works sector, building and improving
roads, bridges, ports, and other infrastructure. Meyer also talked about the end of the U.S. Dollar as a world reserve
currency, the commodities bull market, and his recommendation that people buy precious metals, such as silver.
Art was joined in the second hour by paranormal investigator Dr. Stephen Rorke, who shared research from his
investigation into the Spiricom case. Rorke said Spiricom was an attempt to create a technological means of
communicating with the dead. The program, which ran from the mid 1960s to the early 1980s, was conducted by Metascience
Foundation's George W. Meek and William O'Neil, a self-described psychic and electronics engineer. The two men
allegedly contacted the spirit of deceased NASA scientist Dr. George Mueller, but Rorke believes there was some fraud
at play.
As evidence, he revealed that O'Neil, the sole operator of the Spiricom device, was a schizophrenic ventriloquist, who
may have used his voice-throwing skills, along with an electrolarynx, to create the voice of Dr. Mueller. The Spiricom
recordings "sound exactly like" the modulations produced by an artificial larynx, Rorke pointed out. In addition,
O'Neil's only source of income was from the Metascience Foundation, and they paid him more money for results, Rorke
added. Rorke also presented some newly discovered Metascience audio, noting that there is never any overlap between
O'Neil and the Spiricom voice.
The final two hours of Friday's program were a replay from 10/5/03, featuring Richard C. Hoagland and Mike Heiser.
NOTE: Art will continue his interview with Dr. Rorke on October 23, 2009. They will be discussing the work of the late
Ralph Rene, who wrote extensively about the lunar-landing hoax theory.
