Bret Maverick falls for a soft-spoken girl with an angelic face named Modesty Blaine. They enter into a partnership to sell cats to a mining camp overrun by rats. But while Modesty might have the face of an angel, she has the soul of a rattlesnake which causes our hero numerous undue hardships.
