Selling over four million copies and winning numerous awards would be
enough for most software programs. But since its launch over a decade
ago, the Chessmaster series has remained the most dominant franchise
in the history of chess software.

Chessmaster pioneered the use of Natural Language Advice, so that
players could get tips for moves through simple vocal cues from the
computer, in easy-to-understand English.

This year's launch features a revamped chess engine, which plays at an even
higher level than before. Chessmaster 8000 has also taken its visual look,
already the best of any chess program, to another level with the addition
of several new chess boards and sets, all done in crisp 16-bit graphics.
