| Description | You want brutal? I mean, REALLY brutal? Then look no further than the latest from gore soaked death metal act General Surgery, titled Corpus In Extremis- Analysing Necrocriticism. It's been three years since this five-piece released the acclaimed Left Hand Pathology, and judging by the results here they've not been sitting around resting on their laurels, as this latest Listenable Records CD is a pulverizing concoction of violent death metal, and one of the heaviest things I have heard in a while. 15 tracks of utter mayhem and crushing aggression, General Surgery litter the landscape with plenty of mammoth riffs, insane drum blasts, and maniacal growls on tunes such as "Adnexal Mass", "Decedent Scarification Aesthetics", "Necrocriticism", and the devastating "Virulent Corpus Dispersement". As you can imagine, lyrically this thing isn't for the faint of heart, but these blood caked metalheads certainly know how to produce a horrific good time. Interesting thing is, despite the ferocity and speed that many of these songs rage on at, there's a surprising amount of groove and bottom end here, tracks like " Idle Teratoma Core" and "Plexus Necrosis" plow along with an almost Morbid Angel/Hate Eternal styled crunch that is quite appealing.
